Meet Amy YEAGER JORGE

Please enjoy a tribute to my dear dog friend, Mya at the bottom of the page.

I was born in upstate NY, enjoying figure skating, playing outside, and of course, drawing at any given opportunity.

I began painting and drawing from an early age.  As a 12 year old living in North Carolina, I was allowed to attend the adult Bob Ross painting class, where I dove into the world of painting, painting many happy trees!  I was blessed as a young artist with very supportive parents, thanks Mom and Dad.

In Raleigh, NC, where I attended William Peace University, I studied graphic design and minored in dance.  It wasn't until after college that I invested much time and energy into my Etsy shop, Amy's Creative Corner.  I'd set up my tent on the weekends at farmers markets and art shows selling my crafts and artwork.

In 2008, I met my husband who would soon suggest perhaps I focus on painting pet portraits, as he could see that was where my heart was.  Since then, I have continued to hone my skills as a self-taught pet portraitist, and have further explored my personal pieces of artwork as well.

The inspiration for my personal work comes from visions in my dreams and the synchronistic patterns of objects and animals that I see. My two dogs and husband also bring an encouraging energy to my ideas and themes.

I've  worked a wide range of jobs, including running my own mobile massage business as a licensed massage therapist.  I tried the 9-5 graphic design type jobs for some time, but always came back to wanting to be in front of a canvas.  And that's where I will stay!

I truly appreciate your love and support!

Thanks kindly,

Amy

Tribute to Mya

Words cannot express the amount of heaviness one may have in their heart when it comes to letting go of their animal friends.  I let go of my dear, sweet girl, Mya on May 31st, 2019.  It was a blend of bittersweet, joy, deep sadness, surreal, heavenly warmth- all in one emotion.

Mya was 12 years old when she passed, after struggling for some years with heart disease.  She came to this earth to help me grow as a person, develop my Self, and believe in myself to be a professional artist.  Her time on this earth was full of fun, happiness, pure love and joy.  She brought so much joy to so many people.  When I posted about her passing on social media, my heart was so overjoyed to read all the words from her human friends who had the great pleasure of knowing her over the years.  She was the sweetest, softest, spunky little cavalier spaniel and chihuahua mix.

She was an amazing inspiration and motivation for my artwork.  Below are some of the paintings of her I created over the years.  It is wild to see how primitive my style was 10 years ago!  My work has come a long way, and I give her appreciation and respect for always being by my side, with every painting I ever did, under my feet, always there.  It will be different to paint without her physically there, but I know she will be with me still, right with me, always, with every painting I ever create for the world.

Thank you, Mya, my sweetheart, for everything and all of your encouragement for my artwork.  I love you.
